Who is Restored Hearing?

Restored Hearing Ltd. is a young, innovative Irish company working in the auditory arena. Founded in May 2009, Restored Hearing’s mission is to research and develop scientifically verified auditory solutions in a safe, reliable and efficient manner.


Having worked together since 2007 on various research projects the Restored Hearing team are a group of three physicists dedicated to creating innovative solutions to auditory problems and promoting healthy hearing. The team is comprised of Rhona Togher, Chief Research Officer, Anthony Carolan, Chief Technical Officer and Eimear O’ Carroll, Chief Communications Officer, who are also the three directors and co-owners of the company. Rhona and Eimear are currently studying physics in University College Dublin and the University of Edinburgh respectively while Anthony is teaching physics in Sligo.
After having developed the SOMTUS™ sound therapy the team gained support from the Sligo County Enterprise Board and began to cultivate the Restored Hearing brand and develop an online platform for the delivery of the SOMTUS TM sound therapy. www.restoredhearing.com went live in August 2009 and has gone from strength to strength since.

The Restored Hearing team have been promoting their breakthrough SOMTUS™ therapy in multiple countries through a variety of print media, radio, internet blogs and TV interviews and have been nominated for several awards already in their brief history.
Restored Hearing Ltd. was a national finalist of the Ulster Bank Business Achiever Awards, having won the Connaught regional final. The company is also a nominee for the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year, the Technology Review 35 and the Enterprise Ireland College Entrepreneurs of the Year.

Originating in Sligo, in the North West of Ireland, Restored Hearing is now based in NovaUCD, where it is a client company. The University of Edinburgh’s Launch.ed programme for student businesses and the Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce are also working with Restored Hearing in the UK.
